The 9th grade dogs faced off against Pauls Valley in the 2nd round of the Pauls Valley tournament.

It was another close game for the dogs. Sulphur struggled shooting it from the beginning missing their opening 8 shots of the game. They still played good enough defense to have a 5 point lead at the half. Pauls Valley then surprised the dogs with a zone defense in the 2nd half that gave them problems, and PV took the lead by the end of the 3rd. The 4th quarter was back and forth. Sulphur had the ball with 18 seconds left down 2 and at 7 seconds Logan Smith hit, what ended up being, a game winning 3.

“It was a huge shot. It seemed like we struggled the entire game on offense. We couldn’t get anything to fall from the outside. Our defense stepped up and gave us a chance to win at the end. Pauls Valley did a good job of playing to their strengths, and sometimes all it takes is having the ball at the end and ceasing the moment. We did just that.”
