Ladies and Gentlemen before our National Anthem we would like to invite you to  focus your attention now to half court.  On behalf of Sulphur Public Schools we would like to introduce and honor one of our Hometown Heroes.   Veterans – Glen and Glenna Vandever

  • and Mrs. Vandever will be accompianied by their son Chad Vandever and his wife Catherine, and grandson Elijah
  • Glen retired from the OK National Guard with 25 years of service
  • Glenna served in the United States Navy from 1972-1975

Location of Service

  • Glenn served with 1120th Maintance Co, in Sulphur, OK. He did his basic training at Fort Bliss, TX and was deployed to Fort Irwin , CA during Desert Storm
  • Glenna went to boot camp in Orlando , FL.  Lake Hurst, NJ for Aviation Fundamentals, Aerographers Mate Class”A” School, and Air Ocean Environmental Class”C” School.  She plotted weather maps for the fleet, received computer informantion from overseas air stations, and tracked AWACS planes and information.

Glen’s Military Awards include:

  • Army Good Conduct Medal
  • National Defense Service Medal(2nd Award)
  • Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal(4th award)
  • Army Achievement Medal
  • Army Commendation Medal
  • Sharpshooter Qualification Badge
  • Honor Graduate Basic Non-Commisioned Officer Course

Glenna’s Awards include:

  • National Defense Service Medal

Glen and Glenna have been married for 39 years and are very instrumental in American Legion Post 148.
