Ladies and Gentlemen before our National Anthem we would like to invite you to  focus your attention now to half court.  On behalf of Sulphur Public Schools we would like to introduce and honor one of our Hometown Heroes.   Veteran – Mr. Jerrod James

  • Coach James will be accompanied by his – Wife Laura James, daughter Jocelyn James, son Clayton James
  • Sergeant Jerrod James served 8 years in the United States Amy

Location of Service

  • Served in the 1st Battalion, 8th US Cavalry, 2nd “Blackjack” Brigade,
  • 15th Forward Support Battalion and 515th Forward Support Battalion.
  • Deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in March 2004- March 2005 with the 515th Forward Support Battalion, stationed at Forward Operating Base Falcon (Camp Falcon). There our company/ platoon was responsible for executing over 1200 missions during operations in combat.

Coach James’ Awards include:

  • (2) Army Commendation Medals,
  • (3) Army Achievement Medals,
  • (2) Army Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal,
  • Iraq Campaign Medal,
  • Global War on Terrorism Medal,
  • Non- Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon,
  • Army Service Ribbon
  • Awarded “Order of the Combat Spurs” for serving during combat, a tradition among Cavalry Troopers and the 1st Cavalry Division.
  • 1st Battalion 8th US Cavalry – Soldier of the Month
  • 15th Forward Support Battalion – Soldier of the Month, Soldier of the Quarter
  • 1st Cavalry Division- Division Support Command- Soldier of the Quarter

Mr. Jerrod James currently is a teacher with Sulphur Public Schools where he coaches fast pitch softball and baseball.
